El Área Protegida Punta Tombo, establecida en 1979, abarca una superficie total de 210 hectáreas y se puede visitar de septiembre a abril. La costa se considera una zona intocable y, durante febrero, se llena de polluelos que nadan, especialmente en las pequeñas pozas que deja la marea al bajar. Saliendo de Puerto Madryn, rumbo al sur por la Ruta Nacional N.º 3, y tras recorrer unos 180 km por asfalto y ripio, llegaremos a Punta Tombo, la mayor reserva continental de pingüinos de Magallanes (Spheniscus magellanicus). Este increíble lugar alberga a decenas de miles de pingüinos de Magallanes, que llegan cada año a partir de septiembre para anidar y criar a sus polluelos. Para observar la fauna, es importante respetar los senderos perfectamente señalizados. De regreso, aún quedan opciones interesantes por visitar, como Gaiman, donde podrá disfrutar del tradicional Té Galés (opcional, no incluido en la tarifa) y visitar la tradicional colonia galesa, y en Trelew, el Museo Paleontológico Egidio Feruglio (entrada no incluida en la tarifa). Desde allí, regresaremos a la ciudad de Puerto Madryn.

The Punta Tombo Protected Area was established in 1979, covering a total area of 210 hectares and can be visited from September to April. The coastline is considered an untouchable area, and during the month of February, it is populated with chicks practicing swimming, especially in the small pools left by the tide as it recedes. Departing from Puerto Madryn, heading south on National Route No. 3, and after traveling about 180 km on pavement and gravel, we will arrive at Punta Tombo, the largest continental reserve of Magellanic Penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus).

This incredible place is home to tens of thousands of Magellanic penguins, who arrive every year from September to nest and raise their chicks. To observe the fauna, it is important to respect the perfectly laid out trails. On the way back, there are still some interesting options to visit, such as Gaiman where you can enjoy the traditional Welsh Tea (optional, not included in the fare) and a visit to the traditional Welsh colony, and in Trelew, the Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum (entrance fee not included in the fare). From there, we will return to the city of Puerto Madryn.
